Guide to using PIMS.Navigating to People & Places
Mouse over "User" in the horizontal menu bar and click on a menu item.
Alternatively, click ' User Functions' from the drop-down menu to see all of the available functionality.
Create a new People & Places record
Each of the areas of User in PiMS, has a link to create a new record of the relevant type.
For example, to create a new record for a person, click on the 'New Person record' link.
You will see a form for recording the details for an individual person.
It is often possible to Create a new record as an association to a different record.
For example, if you create a new record for a 'Group of People', you will have the option to either, add existing records for individual 'People' to that group or to create a new 'Person' record to add.
The Example below shows a form for adding a record for a Person to a group called 'A Research Group'
- Click the Add new link to Create a new
'Person' record to add to the Group record.
- or Click the Search/Add link to add an existing
'Person' record to the Group record.
- This form can also be used to record address details for the person.
- Click the Add new link to Create a new
'Person' record to add to the Group record.
Search User records
You can search for records in each of the User areas by clicking the appropriate 'Search...' link in the User Functions page.
Alternatively, select the appropriate link from the drop-down menu.

Edit User records
To edit a User record you need to navigate to the 'View' page for the specific record.
You can do this from the results returned from performing a 'Search' of User records.
The view page is accessed by clicking the magnifying glass
icon next to the record.
